Exclusive
Brethren Family Life
Exclusive Brethren hold and practice the truth of household baptism
(Acts 16:15,33; 1 Corinthians 1:16). Their children are
baptised at infancy, before they are brought into the
Assembly. This signifies the parents' faith and committal
that the child belongs to the Lord, and will in time become
committed to the Assembly.

Their homes and vehicles are free of the pipelines
of media filth: television, radio, and the Internet,
in accordance with their baptism and commitment
to separation from the world.
Fathers are the breadwinners. Mothers stay at home
to care for the household.
Exclusive Brethren generally either own their own businesses, providing employment for their families and others, or are employed in a business owned by
Exclusive Brethren.
Their baptism requires that their children marry
within the fellowship, although some who have defected
have later been recovered to the fellowship, along
with their spouses.
Marriage is held in honour (Hebrews 13:4), and fidelity
in the marriage bond is mandatory to the fellowship.
Exclusive Brethren care for their aged and their sick, whether relatives or otherwise.
Their leaders have
taught and demonstrated
to them that their
fellowship is based on
unselfishness and each
one caring for the
interests of others
(Acts 20:35).

Exclusive Brethrens' social life is full and includes travel,
fellowship, entertaining, and outdoor exercise.
Exclusive Brethren travel regionally and globally to attend special meetings and enjoy the universal fellowship.
Group travel is established for attendance at special meetings.
Exclusive Brethren do not attend restaurants or venues of
worldly entertainment, nor eat with others outside
their fellowship.
Overnight accommodation is always provided in other
brethrens' homes.
Households generally entertain households, young
and old mingling together to prove the blessings
of the generational overlap.
Exclusive Brethren enjoy live music in their homes from their
own members. Many younger Exclusive Brethren learn to play
musical instruments.
A meeting every day provides opportunity for spiritual
renewal and social contact at a suitable level.
Hospitality pursued without preference or prejudice
is an obligation and privilege of their fellowship.
